Pierrot Clown Mask – Deburau

£120.00

Deburau is a Pierrot Clown mask named after Jean Gaspard Deburau, a Bohemian French mime from the 19th Century.

She is made from papier mache and painted with acrylics before being sealed with a matt varnish.

Deburau sports red ribbons to wear and has a loop for hanging once you are finished acting the lovelorn clown yourself.

Note:

This mask is now part of a collection being exhibited in Venice.

However, other clown masks are available and from time to time a new Pierrot mask makes an appearance in the Clownery, so keep a watch out for them.

Description

Clowns, and Pierrot in particular, have always held a fascination for me…growing up in a house full of them (and I don’t mean just my brothers) I find I have an affinity with their happiness and sadness all at the same time and it is this feeling i put into the creation of each one that comes out of the studio.

Deburau was a Bohemian mime from the 19th Century and the first actor to have earned the moniker Pierrot, in fact all other incarnations of Pierrot since are based on the work of Jean-Gaspard Deburau.  This mask, being the first Pierrot mask i have made since i trained in Florence is aptly named after the very first Pierrot.

Deburau is made of papier mache using traditional Venetian mask making techniques. She will fit a small to medium size face but will look incredible on any size wall providing an original 3d work of art for your home/shop/office. I will make other Pierrot masks but there will only be one based on the original Pierrot.

Deburau comes supplied with her own Certificate of Authenticity.
